Bernard Berenson wrote "there is nothing like Siena in our world."
Siena is unique, a Gothic jewel, whose wonderfully preserved medieval cityscape
still provides the setting for the passions and loyalties of the ancient Contrade (city wards).
The Palio, the famous horse race between the Contrade, embodies the complexities of Sienese identity and history,
passed through generations from father to son.
But Siena is more than just the city itself.
The surrounding region contains many historic towns of great beauty,
while the landscape encompasses the vine and olive-covered hills of Chianti,
the starkly-beautiful clay lands of the Crete Senesi and the dense woodlands of the Montagnola.
Investors from all over the world have long been drawn to this area of honey-coloured stone and orderly lines of cypresses, symbols of Tuscany.
